Calendar marked for May 29 7:00 p.m. race against the Scouts (check!)
Fun (check!!!)

This Week in Physics
For Monday please finish assignment 1 from unit 8 and take notes on unit 8’s video 2. This week we’ll complete at least two lab activities and assignment 2. Yay!

Week of May 13, 2019

Congratulations to those who’ve finished AP testing, and best of luck to those who are studying for tests this week! You’ve accomplished a lot!

This Week in AP Physics
For the rest of the year we’ll be completing our pinewood derby engineering project. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. for our race with the Boy Scouts!

This Week in Physics
For Monday please take notes on unit 7 video 4. When announced please take notes on videos 1 and 2 from unit 8. We will complete some fun experiments this week with equipment that I like to call “electric LEGOs”!

Week of May 6, 2019

Welcome to the first week of AP testing! Congratulations to all the AP students on your hard work, and good luck on your exams!

This Week in AP Physics
When you aren’t in AP testing, we will review and do practice questions. Yay!

This Week in Physics
First period: Goal set 2 is due on Monday, as is video 3. Your goal set 2 quiz is Tuesday. Third and eleventh periods: Goal set 2 is due on Tuesday, as is video 3. Your goal set 2 quiz is Wednesday. As the week progresses we will do assignment 3 followed by video 4. Next week we will begin electric circuits. Yay!

Week of April 29, 2019

Spring break! Yay! I hope you all have a fabulous, enjoyable time! There is no homework due the day after spring break. I want you to enjoy your friends, family, and time off.

Important upcoming dates:
May 21: Physics field trip to Cedar Point
May 24, 28, and 29: Senior exams
May 31 and June 3 & 4: Junior exams

This Week in AP Physics:
On Wednesday your unit 16 packet is due, and we will do Q & A over the unit while in class on Wednesday. Other than that, we will review for the exams!
AP Physics 1 exam: May 7
AP Physics 2 exam: May 10
Class celebration and pinewood derby project begins: May 13

This Week in Physics:
By Tuesday, April 30 please take notes on video 2 (electric force) from unit 7. As the week progresses you will also likely need to take notes on video 3 (electric fields) as announced.

For fun: Sharks travel over spring break, too! Check out this shark tracker to find out where they are.

Week of April 15, 2019

This week before spring break has special bell schedules on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for state testing and then the talent show. Our progress will be a smidge more limited than usual, but we’ll get through!

This Week in AP Physics
We will finish interference with
practice problems and a lab and a lab and practice problems. The fringe benefits of this unit will be that we get to play with lasers! We will also get those ray diagrams for lenses and mirrors taken care of so that the topic is nice and in focus.

This Week in Physics
Your SLO exam is Monday and covers units 1-6. Be sure to use the learning goal sets under each unit webpage as your study guides. Then we will continue to move through unit 7 with
assignment 1. When assigned please take notes on video 2 (electric force).

Week of April 8, 2019

This week we have reduced class time on Thursday and Friday due to state testing for 9th and 10th grade ELA.

This Week in AP Physics
We will finish unit 13 on wave motion and sound by doing
homework 3 and packet 1 (due Monday) and homework 4 (not due Monday because I’m mean but not cruel, lol), packet 2, and a swell experiment, Standing Waves in Closed-Ended Tubes. Our unit 13 mock test will be Wednesday. By Thursday we will dive into physical optics, unit 14. Be sure to continue to work through the unit 16 material. If you wait, you will cram, and you will have difficulty encoding it cognitively. Boo cognitive encoding difficulty!

This Week in Physics
We will spend part of the week preparing for the SLO exam that will take place on Monday, April 15. Then we will dive into electrostatics. When announced please take notes on electrostatics video 1,
Introduction to Electrostatics, Conductors, Insulators, and Methods of Charging (Friction, Conduction, Induction, and Polarization)

Week of April 1, 2019

This Week in AP Physics
On Monday we’ll take our unit test over
magnetism and electromagnetism. Then we will continue to explore waves and sound with lots of sweet notes, problems, demos, and a really fun sound lab. Will we finish it all this week? Probably not, but we will be close, so we’ll test the week of April 8. Reminder: Please begin to work steadily through your online unit 16 lessons on modern physics. Also April is the beginning of the end, so I recommend starting to review units 1-3 this week. The AP Physics 1 test is May 7, and the AP Physics 2 test is May 10. We’re almost home, folks!

This Week in Physics
All sections are at different points, so please be sure to read carefully. First period: Your
goal set 1 quiz is Monday, and third period, yours is Tuesday. Eleventh period: You did this on Friday – good job! Everyone should have taken notes on video 3 from unit 3 on gravity and planetary orbits by the start of class on Monday. We’ll be finishing this unit this week with an assignment and an online lab and will most likely test on Thursday or Friday.

Week of March 25, 2019

This Week in AP Physics
You will be thrilled to know that we will finish
unit 12 on magnetism by the end of the week, so expect a test on Thursday or Friday. Yay! We will also do a mini-lab that most people have a lot of fun with. Yay! P.S. Be sure to check out the pictures on our unit 12 page. They’re pretty rad.

This Week in Physics
We will finish unit 6 on circular motion and gravity by the end of the week. For Monday please take notes on
video 2 from unit 6. Goal set 1 is due for first period on Monday and third period on Tuesday. All classes will take a quiz over goal set 1 on Tuesday. When assigned please take notes on video 3 from unit 6. We will do assignment 2 together in class followed by goal set 2. Additionally we will be completing our circular motion lab. A lab report for this lab will be due as announced.

Week of March 11, 2019

This Week in AP Physics
Again we will continue to work on electric circuits by exploring circuit geometry with more notes, more tremendously great problems to solve, and more sweet homework problems! (Remember packet one of the tremendously great problems to solve is due on Monday! Yay!) We’ll also keep working on our lab! Then we’ll take a test! So good!

This Week in Physics
First period will finish assignment 3 and goal set 3 in class on Monday. Everyone else should have both of these done by the start of class on Monday. This week we will conduct the Impulse-Momentum Theorem Lab and will take our test over our momentum unit.

Week of March 4, 2019

This week we will only have a few class periods together due to testing and parent-teacher conferences, so this will be very sparse.

This Week in AP Physics
We will continue to work on
electric circuits by exploring circuit geometry of basic circuits with notes, a set of tremendously great problems to solve, and some sweet homework problems.

This Week in Physics
Unless you are in first period, if you have not taken notes on
video 3 from our unit on momentum, please do so by the start of class on Monday. We will work through this material, do assignment 3, and will take a quiz over goal set 3, which covers the impulse-momentum theorem. Expect your unit test on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Yay!!!
